Millie, the surprise tribute and seeing everyone come together for Louisa must have been incredibly moving. It sounds like you’ve built the kind of place where community happens naturally, even if it occasionally catches you by surprise. Wishing you good cheer and many more yard dances, unforgettable evenings, and a well earned spot on that wicker throne.
Millie, the real conspiracy is that everyone around you has learned how to convert your household’s beautiful chaos into public belonging. The speakers, chairs, kabobs, playlist, and Kona-on-Gus announcement read like comic escalation until Louisa’s song reveals the planning as an act of love aimed straight at the porch. Tonya arriving with a paperback and later placing tissues in your lap shows how thoroughly this family understands both your need for quiet and your susceptibility to music. Thank you for letting the joke widen into a portrait of a community that knows how to surprise its reluctant leader with the life she helped make possible.
For some reason, and I’m blaming Kona, there’s a general feel of “we’ll tell Millie later” in the air around here. This isn’t the first secret-keeping thing - remember that deal with the riot that wasn’t a riot? Yeah. There was Kona at the crossroads in that one too. And some others, one of whom might have a platinum crown and impossibly hot jiggles.
They are a bunch of animals. My animals. And yeah, they make me lose it sometimes. This time really got to me. It was certainly public.
Some of the folks sitting around me noticed my ring - I think they’re starting to put the clues together.
Thank you, @Rev. Kevin T. Taylor. You are one very amazing critter yourself.
Millie, I gladly accept “amazing critter” status. The “we’ll tell Millie later” policy seems to be your animals’ preferred method for protecting a surprise from the one person capable of reading the whole room too early. Now the ring is giving your neighbors a new mystery to solve, and I suspect Kona will eventually be found somewhere near that crossroads too. Your stories keep revealing a family fluent in mischief, loyalty, and the exact kind of love most likely to undo you in public.
Excellent storytelling! 'The music stopped, and Gus lifted the kitten onto his shoulder...'—your words craft vivid, movie-like images that really draw readers in. The 'Konafied' experience sounds like a delightful whirlwind, and the tissue box scene on the porch adds a warm, emotional touch that beautifully balances the humor and pace. Thank you for sharing this enchanting evening with me on your porch!
My first real experience to your writing and I found it absolutely delightful. I will look forward to reading some of your other work in the future. The highest compliment I can give is that the flow allows an easy read which mixes well with a wide grin.

It's a magical place in Tiara Land. We never know what's happening next. Well, I don't, as you can see.
Thank you for your comment! I hope you continue to enjoy our stories. Feel free to share them if you think they're something your readers would like.
